WakeMK Summer Jam 2009

Well, luckily the cold windy weather didn't deter spectators or the level of riding at WakeMK's 2009 Summer Jam, with the likes of Davies, Stelfox, Cornwall, Carter, Manns & Trap 5's team member Mr Clifford competing in Pro Mens. It was immediately obvious that this was going to be an amazing comp as soon as qualifying began with Gareth Stelfox qualifying in first place.

The MC announced pro riders to the dock for finals, and none of them were to be seen. Shortly following a 2nd announcement I saw James Saunders from Box End Park emerge from the gents changing rooms shouting them to 'hurry up'!

What followed was amazing! Effortless, flowing invert after invert with a bit of kicker, slider and rail action thrown into the mix, making it look all so easy! Dec kept his cool & rode amazingly as usual. Bringing home a very well earnt 3rd place. Well done Dec!

And well done to all riders in all categories.

Ten Feet High Wake & Skate Series

Sheffield Cable dock, corner 3-4, Rach the fairy, The Moontent, Tina & Andy on the booze.

Setting up home for the weekend (above) & the awards party (below).

It was the final round held at Sheffield Waterski & we hit the road in force saturday lunchtime. A bit behind schedule we called ahead to get someone to sign the boys into the comp, as we were never going to make it in time. After pitching up camp we headed over to the dock. James Saunders run ended in disaster after dislocating his shoulder in mid air. He was nursed at the side of the cable by paramedic & lovely girlfriend Amy Ward. Later at the party, his friend 'Stella' also helped to numb his pain a little!!

Chris Gibson rode well with some tough competition, just managing to miss podium by one place. A little later, pro category was called & the crowd closed for the penultimate battle. Declan Clifford made us proud with a podium place as joint first with Will Manns.

We celebrated Dec's win at the awards party & then back at camp where Andy's tardis like van produced home comforts of all kinds to keep us warm, drunk, fed & comfortable. Later, a wet Gibbo returned to camp after a celebratory dunk in the lake for his birthday, some chocolate caterpillar cake soon warmed him up!

Sick cable, awesome people, top night.
